When researching hotels for Kuala Lumpur, I wanted to stay in the heart of the city, to feel the pulse and rhythm of its beat. This usually will be the city center, and lucky for me the answer was staring me in the face.
As a Hong Kong native, the buck stopped at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. Not just because of its namesake, but also the proximity to where it is, and all the luxurious comforts that the hotel provides.
You know when you feel so at ease at a place it’s like your home? That’s the feeling that I got here. As a frequent traveler, I rely on those elements of comfort. I stayed in a Club Deluxe King Room which I highly recommend doing for reasons listed below.
I pretty much did three things on this trip: shopped, worked, and ate. So daily access to the MO Club was a high priority, as its spacious wrap-around lounge served as a fantastic relaxing area throughout the day. The best seats are by the windows, which look out to the Petronas Towers and city sights.

I was happening to be staying in KL when Spanish Chef Eneko Atxa, whose restaurant Azurmendi, was doing a pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental. Named AZIAMENDI88, for its 88-day exclusive menu, it allowed me to experience the depth and elegance of his cuisine.

The weather was spotting with rain at times, so I didn’t spend much time by the pool but loved its infinity design and luscious landscape. And the one amenity that I regret not trying is the simulated indoor golf driving range. I may not be the best golfer, but I like to improve my swing anytime I can. Thankfully there’s always the next time.
The overall service was impeccable, from the minute you pull up to the valet, to when you walk into the grand hallway, to everyone at the hotel that tries to remember you by name. It’s the personal touches, the little graces, and the tiniest of details that you’re not aware, that make the MO KL undoubtedly the best place to stay in Kuala Lumpur.
Here’re some of the perks of why I loved my club room and the situation of the hotel.
