Best Indonesian Volcanoes Ijen Volcano Java. You do not know hot until you’ve been up close and personal with a running hot lava flow. Its hot. In fact it’s even more than hot. It’s between 700 and 1200 degrees C OR 1300 to 2200 F HOT!!
Indonesia is known to have the most active Volcanos in the world, and to see mother nature burning at higher temps than a dutch oven, is rather remarkable. Did I mention its hot? This is the world’s largest acidic volcanic crater lake, called Ijen, famous for its turquoise color.
On a recent trip to Asia, I had the opportunity to take a full moon night hike across lava land, to see where it flows. Its magical in every way. Crossing hard cold lava, after it solidifies is remarkable in itself. A science lesson in geological fascination…

Oh and just in case, don’t forget the coffee on the way back!
