When thinking about where to stay in Singapore, in the forefront of my mind is always location, location, location. But what I realized more on this trip is that I tend to gravitate towards the little things. The minute details where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
I found this to be true at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore. As my first visit to the country, I eagerly chose to stay downtown along the Marina Bay. Its proximity was close to everything on my agenda and the hotel in every way exceeded my expectations.
With its front seat view to the Marina, the Mandarin Oriental isn’t the biggest hotel in Singapore, and it doesn’t have to be. In some ways, we are taught that bigger is better, but is it? I find myself seeking the little joys, the private touches, the delicate nuances, and that’s what the hotel excels at.

As a frequent traveler, I’m always seeking that home away from home. Where people remember your name, remember the drink you had the night before, and know that you like extra pillows for those cozy sleep in mornings.
I stayed in a Club Marina Bay room, which is my suggested room of choice. Why? As the room and amenities fully compliment my needs, and for the reasons, you will see listed below.
Their attention to detail is on point – after all, this is the Mandarin Oriental. But what I cherished about my stay was what I mentioned earlier; details. For example, these sturdy recycled hotel pens caught my eye, and frankly, I couldn’t stop holding or using them. This is the only MO Hotel in the world to use these types of pens, which showed me of how progressive Singapore is, and with it, the Mandarin Oriental.
Whether you want to just relax in the hotel which I did for a few days, there’s enough space, and serenity that surrounds you. Remember, you’re not just staying at a hotel, you’re also experiencing a country through a hotel’s eyes.
When I say perfectly located, I mean just that. With a front-row seat to the Marina Bay itself, I had an array of shops, dining choices, historic landmarks, and everything I needed was a quick cab ride away. Singapore was a real gem, that surprised me, and reminded me that when you add up the little things, your best stay is at MO Singapore.
