If you’re like me and find that proximity is key, in the heartbeat of downtown Siem Reap, I found an oasis.
The Park Hyatt Siem Reap is ground zero from the pulse and heartbeat of Cambodia’s tourist mecca. Only a three-minute walk to the old market area, I couldn’t have found a better place to cozy up with and call home. That thing about proximity? I felt I hit the jackpot!
Where the Park Hyatt Siem Reap excels, is with its personal touches that are one part ancient Khmer, mixed with a splash of modern elegance. Instead of a standard check-in desk, you are welcomed into the living room lobby, to relax, take a breath from the bustling streets of Siem Reap, and check in at a welcome desk with plush chairs and couches. Ahhhh…
Like any great oasis, all the ground floor rooms are connected. From the library room to the dining room, which leads to an outdoor patio luxuriating oasis, which leads to the ground floor pool, which leads to an ever-flowing energy that inspires you to sit back, take it all in.
Behind any great city, is the pulse of the people. The hotel has customer service that exceeded my dreams, and it’s the little touches of modern Cambodian life, that I will take away with me. When talking to the doorman that would always eagerly greet me with a massive smile hello, I took the time to get to know him and ask him about his life.
Narith, who’s eighteen, professed how honored he was to have a job at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, and how working there made him happy. Beyond happy, as it was his dream! Damn it! Seeing the pride and joy that lit up his face, reminded me that I’m not just staying at any hotel. I’m staying with its people.
I gravitate to rooms that are bright and open. What I wasn’t expecting was a massive walk-in wardrobe, a modern and chic marble bathroom, and everything that embodied me to feel good, ahhh… When visiting any city that has a heavy tourist hustle, it’s a telling sign when you walk into your room, yelling, “Honey I’m Home!”
